Communion is a celebration of the work of Jesus Christ in the lives of all believers. It is an ordinance set out for us in Scripture (Mark 11:12-26; John 13:1-17; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34) to teach us symbolically about the great work of Christ. We celebrate Communion twice a year at Wooster Grace.
Our service resembles the Last Supper of Jesus in the Upper Room and has three parts:
The Bread and Cup: a symbolic reference to the death of Christ where the bread symbolizes Jesus' body in which He suffered for our sins and the cup symbolizes Jesus' blood shed as the perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin.
The Footwashing: an act of humble service and a reminder of our need for daily cleansing from personal sin.
The Love Feast: light snacks when we share encouragement and anticipation about our future relationship with Christ.
